Ronda Bar & Park 6
Tivoli Vredendburg in Utrecht is one of the leading music venues in the Netherlands with a unique character and very diverse program of musical genres, from rock bands to chamber music. In 2014, Tivoli expanded to five separate music halls, each designed by an architect with distinctly different styles. The new building offers an excellent concert experience, but the common areas in-between do not provide a high-quality environment before and after the show. DAY was commissioned to transform two of these transitional spaces into vibrant hotspots.
The design team decided to mix the refined, decorative style elements of the existing Ronda music hall with a more contemporary and daring visual language. The tension between these very different styles resulted in a unique and eclectic design.
DAY was then invited to design another area that was being used for business and social events but which was not generating enough appeal. DAY developed an ‘urban secret garden’ visual language and a new identity for Park 6 with playful elements, such as ping pong tables and arcade games that give this place a casual, quirky twist.
