Maandag® is a secondment agency (detacheringsbureau), that recruits talent and young professionals to be deployed to their clients in the public services, education and healthcare sector. They tap into the high demand and scarcity of young professionals, by providing them with the know-how, career orientation, professional development and relevant work experience at various companies on an assignment basis before they might settle for permanent employment.
The secondment market is a highly competitive market. So, how can Maandag differentiate itself from competitors and create preference? How do they recruit talents who have many alternatives to choose from? As a Strategic Design Partner we strive to create future-oriented design principles in order to increase an organization’s innovative and competitive qualities.
The key success factor in secondment is find the best people. The challenge is to detect these people and discover their talents during the recruitment proces. As the application process usually creates a tense process for the applicant, its Maandag’s challenge to provide stress relief so that candidates can be the best version of themselves. So the question is, how can they makes sure that the applicant feels confident, gets in its flow and then shines at this moment of truth?
Following this empathetic insight, we identified some weaknesses in the customer journey of the recruitment process.
In our design solution we eliminated all inconveniences and thus stress causes such as parking and signage to the entrance, made waiting before the interview more pleasant, and created a greater sense of well-being through uplifting self-esteem messages and refreshment facilities in the restrooms.
We also improved the design of the workplace offices. Applicants who arrive at the Maandag office get a great impression how the workspaces look. We also show empathy by responding to the needs of this generation of young professionals to work together towards common goals. So we designed the space in such a way that it supports collaboration, interaction and teamwork, a fun place to be for (flex)working and attending workshops.
Maandag demonstrates with the experience design of their spaces that they understand how to welcome talent and treat them in such a way to make them feel at their best This helps both the recruiter, who sees the best of the applicant, and the candidate who feels special and understood and therefore develops a preference for Maandag.
This is the trick to attract the best workforce, it will create the highest turnover, and the best business performance as a secondment agency. The office concept “Let yourself Shine” creates the feeling of ease, joy, well-being and love, the ultimate “I want to be part of Maandag” and therefore ensures that the office is not only a great place but also becomes a strategic advantage.
